Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda is the most highly revered religious site in the Inle Lake region. Located in the village of Ywama, it is a central destination for pilgrims and travelers alike. The pagoda houses five small 12th-century Buddha images. Over decades of devotion, pilgrims have applied so much gold leaf to them that they have lost their original shapes and now appear as solid golden orbs.
